Experience
Aaron Cruikshank, the Principal of Friuch Consulting, has his Masters of Public Policy and an Honours BA in Communications – both from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. A former public servant for the BC and Federal governments, Aaron started Friuch Consulting in 2003 as a sole proprietorship serving government agencies with mandates to develop policy on science and technology commercialization.
After a 12 –month contract with BC Hydro in 2005/2006, Aaron expanded the focus of his business from science and technology policy. Since 2006, Friuch Consulting is focused on methodologies that refine and validate ideas then help organizations of all kinds develop a plan of action – turning those ideas into reality.
Since the re-branding of Friuch Consulting, a significant portion of the work undertaken by Aaron Cruikshank and his network of consulting partners is for private sector companies. Through his strategic partnership with Rocket Builders, Aaron Cruikshank works with small to medium-sized high tech companies that are looking to grow or expand into new markets. This, coupled with prior experience as a small business mentor is quickly earning Aaron Cruikshank a reputation as a reliable business partner.
Other projects are managed under the Friuch brand for larger organizations such as Terasen Gas. These projects tend to be for organizations that are regulated and are looking for business intelligence grounded in public policy. Friuch Consulting is hoping to grow its reputation with regulated corporations in the coming years but has an excellent track record so far.
Another significant portion of Friuch’s work is done in and around the post-secondary education system. With experience as a program advisor and reviewer, Aaron Cruikshank works with organizations like the Industry Training Authority of BC and the University of British Columbia to ensure that institutions are meeting market demand. In addition to his current work helping UBC develop new graduate programs, Aaron is a part-time instructor at UBC and sits on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of SFU.
Friuch Consulting still works closely with government agencies like the National Research Council and the BC Ministry of Economic Development. Aaron Cruikshank’s work has even been submitted for review by the BC Premier’s Technology Council and the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Science and Technology. Aaron’s primary alliance partner for this kind of work is David J. Roughley of Strategic Technology Consulting. Friuch’s previous alliance partner was Dr. Alan Cornford of GPT Management.
