Matthew Sullivan

I met Matthew at a Business Networking International networking event back in February of 2007. Neither of us ended up becoming members of BNI but we certainly hit it off with each other. I’ve put together a couple of bids on projects where I was going to partner up with Matthew but unfortunately, none of them have come to fruition but Matthew has done some work for some of my colleagues and they love his work. I e-mailed Matthew on August 6, 2008 and asked him the following questions. His responses are listed below my questions:

1. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Vancouver BC. I went to UBC and then Dalhousie in Halifax to do my MBA.

2. What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Like everyone else in my early years I entertained thoughts of being a policeman, etc. I did my undergrad in History and almost carried on with Archaeology rather than trying business.

3. How would you describe to someone like me what you do for a living?

I write business plans for companies after venture capital and bank financing. My clients range in size from small start-ups to national corporations. The business plans that I have prepared have been used to
raise capital between $50,000 and $10 million.

4. How would you describe what you do to someone who has no idea what your industry is about?

I help companies get money to start and grow by describing the business to others in a report.
